How Do You Know If Your Brakes Need Service?
The best rule of thumb for any potential vehicle problem is to have anything that concerns you – even a little bit – checked out by a professional. That goes double for brake service, as brakes are your most important safety feature. Even if you end up getting the all-clear from our technicians when you bring your car to Don Moore Hyundai, you will at least gain an extra measure of confidence on the road, knowing your brakes have passed their check.
If, however, they do find a problem, they can fix it quickly and correctly and you may have just avoided a catastrophe on the road.
There are several common signs and symptoms of brakes that need servicing, so in addition to trusting your gut instincts, pay special attention if you notice any of the following:
- Decreased brake responsiveness (it takes more pressure on the pedal to slow or stop)
- Grinding sound or sensation when you brake
- Squealing or screeching brakes
- Shaking or vibrating when you’re slowing down
This is not an exhaustive list, so again, if something about your brakes feels “off” to you, get it in for an inspection at your earliest convenience.
